BACTERIA DIVISION STUDENT AWARDS
Each year the Division presents a number of travel awards to students
presenting their work at an annual meeting. In addition, at each meeting all
students compete for best student oral and poster presentation awards. In the
past students representing the Division have been succesful in gaining these
awards.
The Bacteria Division is pleased to announce the availability
of two US $500 travel awards to support part of the travel costs of a student
who will attend the 2010 SIP Annual Meeting in Trabzon, Turkey (July 11-15,
2010). Thsee award are intended to defray expenses of a student presenting either
a poster or an oral presentation at the meeting.
The award is based both on financial need and on scientific excellence
in the areas of invertebrate bacterial pathogens, bacterial products or related
topics, including transgenic plants and interactions with other microbial agents,
plants and invertebrates, etc. Details on how to apply for the travel awards
will be published on the main SIP website in due course. Note that it is the
Division's policy to give preference to students who have not previously been
given an award, assuming that the science is of a suitable standard. Students
who have previously receieved an award are still encouraged to apply since their
application may also be considered for the prestigious Mauro Martignoni award.
