A brief history of the Bacteria Division

A group of SIP members interested in the formation of a Division of Bacteriology met at the 1995 Annual Meeting of the Society for Invertebrate Pathology held at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, in 1995. Brian Federici, USA, was selected to draft the By-Laws for the Division and, following a sollicitation published in the SIP Newsletter, 130 SIP members signed up as "charter" members of the Division

The initial officers of the Division were André Klier, France (Chair), Barbara Knowles,UK (Chair-Elect), who resigned owing to other responsibilities and was replaced by David Ellar, UK, William Moar, USA (Secretary/Treasurer), Elizabeth Davidson, USA and Susan MacIntosh, USA (both Members-at-large).
